Yellow Iris

A poem by Mediana Stan, illustrated by Szitai György-Ferenc, translated by Rafael Manory

Mr. Mouse has rowed and rowed,
Let his oars aside to flow.
He stopped the small boat with a tie
Talking with his friend, the magpie.

Summer sun becomes too hot
Warms up his smooth fur a lot.
Said good bye to bird, with bows,
Dips into water till his nose.

Swims straight toward the reeds
Irises grow there, indeed.
Grasps an iris of golden sun
Bears it in his mouth... it's done.
