The Paper Airplane

A poem by Mediana Stan, translated by Rafael Manory

Little boy launches a paper airplane
Thousands of small parachutes land on plain.

Dandelion, dandelion,
By the thousands, swing and fly on.

The plane takes off from dandelions,
Blasts them up in flimsy fliers.

There are explosions, new and new
Of down and crystal grains of dew.

Dandelions, dandelions,
By the thousands, swing and fly on.

Dandelions, little windmill vanes
Spinning s’owly in the plains.

In their midst hide, but in vein
My little boy with his paper airplane!
